Head of Operations

Permanent, full time – 52 weeks p.a. (negotiable to a minimum of 42 weeks)
Start date: 1st September 2018
Salary: Bucks Pay Schools (Range 7) £32,204 – £35,836 p.a.

Millbrook Combined is a successful primary school with a strong reputation in both the local community and wider educational environment.  The school is expanding to three forms of entry and this process will be completed in September 2021.  The building development programme to facilitate this is due to end this August.

There is a thriving early years department with:

  • a 78 place nursery for 3 and 4 year olds which will be enhanced by the launch of the 30 hour childcare offer from September 2018
  • an expanding provision for funded 2 year olds.

The school also provides a range of additional services to the local community, this includes:

  • Millbrook Children’s Centre delivering a range of services for 0 to 5 year olds and their families
  • Millbrook Activity Club (MAC) offering childcare in Breakfast, After School and Holiday Clubs
  • the Global Café hub kitchen serving Millbrook pupils and a number of other schools
  • Millbrook Community Swimming Pool.

In addition the school hosts High Wycombe Music Centre and an Adult Learning Centre on the site.

This is an exciting and innovative new role working alongside the headteacher and the rest of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the efficient and effective management of the school’s business and support services.  Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Leading support services
  • Ensuring effective financial management
  • Procurement
  • Infrastructure

The role will also involve the line management of other key roles in the school to secure the above.  For further information please refer to the job description.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of school business management, including financial management, and an understanding of the requirements of the role as outlined in the NASBM professional standards.  Given the nature of the role, proven experience of successful business management in a complex environment is essential.  Candidates must also be able to demonstrate excellent communication, IT and people management skills.  Please refer to the person specification for the full set of essential and desirable characteristics.
